Are you wearing a leg cast, and want to know more about how to protect it against water, debris and dust?  The best thing you can do is buy a special cast cover to make sure you can continue to go about your daily business.  We have a huge variety of different covers in our store, but how do you know which cast size is going to fit you best?

Thankfully, it is easy to measure for any kind or size of cast cover.  The tricky part is choosing a look that you like the best!  Here’s a quick guide on how to measure for cast covers for leg injuries.

Cast Cover Types

When deciding on a covering for your leg cast, it is important that you choose between full or lower leg covers.  Lower leg covers, of course, will care for injuries and casts below the knee.  In many cases, you may only need a short cover to make sure you get the protection you need.

However, in some cases, you will need to choose a full leg cast cover.  These go over your knees and cover the full length of your leg up to your thigh. You will need this style if your leg cast goes above your knee.

Cast Cover Sizing

We make sure to offer cast covers for legs in a variety of sizes and lengths.  For example, our Bloccs waterproof covers come in three main sizes for kids, and one adjustable option for adults. Whenever you choose a cast cover, we recommend you over-estimate a little.  In fact, you should always measure your leg a little above your cast, for example by 5cm, so that there is a chance for wiggle room.

We also offer different child sizes as you never know when your kids are going to hit a growth spurt!  For example, you can purchase Bloccs covers for children up to three years of age, then up to nine, and then up to 14.

Measuring for a Cast Cover

Let's take a look at measuring for a cast cover.  You should measure the full length of your leg cast as well as its circumference at the widest point.  This way, again, you can ensure that you get maximum comfort and wiggle room.  Again, always measure about 5 cms above your cast.

Measuring as accurately as possible means you will buy a cast cover that is comfortable and flexible to your needs.  Of course, it also means that your cover will do its best to wrap around your injury tightly!  This is incredibly important to look for when it comes to picking the right cover.
