Waterproof Protectors for Leg Braces

Although Bloccs Waterproof Protectors are designed to be worn over casts and dressings to allow the wearer to shower, bathe or even swim while keeping their injury dry, we have recently discovered (thanks to Paul) that they can also protect braces from water enabling the wearer to shower while keeping their brace dry.

Romax knee brace

Paul recently contacted us looking for a solution to enable his wife who is wearing a Romax Knee Brace during her recuperation to shower while keeping the brace dry.

This style of brace covers the full leg and so the Bloccs Waterproof Knee Protector was not a suitable option. However, Paul cleverly customised the Bloccs Leg Waterproof Protector for the perfect solution for his wife.

Pauls adjustment to leg cast cover to fit over a brace
Paul made an adjustment to the waterproof protector by cutting a slit at the bottom of the cover, this was because the Romax brace did not cover the foot and he wanted his wife to be able to stand in the shower without any risk of slipping.

While this adjustment to the Bloccs Waterproof Leg Protector means that it could not be used for bathing or swimming, it has been a perfect solution for Paul's wife, Paul very generously has allowed us to share his solution, in the hope that it may help others who are recuperating with a brace.

Here is Paul's feedback:

"We have received our order and tested it this morning.
I slit the bottom seam part way so my wife was able to have her foot exposed, I didn't want her to slip on the shower base.
The cover was easy to fit up over the knee brace and sealed perfectly on her thigh at the top.
All in all, a 10 out of 10 solution"

We recommend that if you are considering using a Bloccs Waterproof Protector to cover your brace that you check the brace carefully to ensure that there are no sharp edges, as these could penetrate the latex rubber of the protector.
