How Effective are Waterproof Cast Covers?

One of the main reasons people buy cast covers is, of course, to protect their arms and legs from becoming wet.  While it is crucial you keep slings and casts away from water to prevent any further damage or infection; it's not always easy.  That's why waterproof cast covers are available in all shapes and sizes!

But just how effective are waterproof covers for casts?  Can they help you bathe as well as swim?  Here’s our quick guide on what you can expect.

Bathe and Shower

One of the main problems people face when wearing casts and slings is washing.  You’re going to need to wear a cast for a few weeks, but what happens when you need to get in the shower?

Waterproof cast covers do precisely what they say on the packaging.  They are fully submersible and wrap tightly to your limb.  Therefore, you can comfortably bathe and shower or even go for a swim. 

That being said, we recommend you take any activity carefully if you are recovering from an injury.  However, you can have peace of mind, knowing you can easily soak or submerge a cast in a waterproof cover without fear of causing an infection.

Useful Again and Again
