If you are wearing a cast or sling, you may have already thought about buying a cover or two. In our full guide to cast covers, we break down everything you need to know about why covers are so beneficial. But how do you know which are the best choices for you? It might be easy to think that a waterproof cover will work correctly for you, but you need to think carefully about your circumstances.
Let’s take a quick look at some scenarios, and which type of cast cover might work best for you.
I Love Swimming!
In many cases, waterproof cast covers can help you to actively submerge and swim without fear of damaging your bandage or wound. We recommend wearing waterproof covers if you swim a lot, or even if you enjoy a long, hot bath every now and again.
Some people who swim a lot can feel that getting a cast means they have to give up their favourite hobby for a few weeks. Yes – it’s important to take things easy when you are nursing an arm or leg injury. However, waterproof cast covers are helpful if you are going to gently submerge or paddle.
We never recommend vigorous swimming while wearing a cast. However, we can confirm that our waterproof covers will remain tight against water ingress, meaning you can go deep and never damage your bandage.
I Love the Outdoor Life!
Do you spend a lot of time outside? Whether you are an avid rambler or work in mud and rain, weatherproof covers are likely to help if you have an injury. They can help people who are injured but who may want to go to music festivals, for example.
Just because you are injured doesn’t mean you should avoid the great outdoors. Weatherproof cast covers will prevent any debris from getting into your cast or sling. They are entirely impervious to even the heaviest of conditions. That means you can continue to do the work you love or continue your favourite outdoor hobbies. However, again, we do advise to rest up occasionally.
I Need to Keep Up Appearances!
If you work in a formal public setting, you may need to keep your cast covered. If you are well enough to work, decorative and protective cast covers can help keep your cast from getting spoiled or messy.
People who work in retail or hospitality, for example, have an image to uphold. While in most cases you would need to take time off work, if you are well enough to stay mobile, a stylish cast cover can blend in with your work attire and help keep your look professional and clean.
So Much Choice!
